Toss Bank signs Solana Foundation MOU to test cross-border remittances for roughly 15 million customers
South Korea’s Toss Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Solana Foundation to test blockchain-based remittance and settlement infrastructure. Toss Bank, the country’s third-largest internet-only bank, said the agreement was signed in Seoul on June 19. The partners plan to start with a proof of concept focused on stablecoin-powered overseas transfers before any broader rollout.

FDIC says US banks earned $80.5 billion as unrealized securities losses hit $325.1 billion in Q1 2026
U.S. banks reported $325.1 billion in unrealized losses on investment securities at the end of the first quarter of 2026, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The total rose for a second consecutive quarter even as the industry generated $80.5 billion in net income. The FDIC said $214.5 billion of the losses sat in held-to-maturity portfolios and $110.6 billion in available-for-sale securities.

Lummis backs CLARITY Act to shield U.S. coders from prosecution for publishing code
U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis is urging colleagues to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, saying it would protect software developers from prosecution for simply publishing code. In a statement shared on June 22, she highlighted the legal exposure faced by developers behind DeFi tools, wallets and other onchain services. Lummis argues that without clearer rules, routine engineering work can be treated as criminal activity after the fact.
