About Yala (YALA)

What Is Yala (YALA) and How Does It Work?

Yala (YALA) is a Bitcoin-native liquidity protocol designed to unlock yield opportunities while preserving self-custody of BTC. It enables users to deposit Bitcoin or Bitcoin-backed assets into secure multi-signature vaults and mint $YU, an over-collateralized stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar. The protocol then channels these assets into diversified yield strategies across DeFi and real-world assets (RWAs), allowing users to earn returns without selling their BTC.

The YALA token serves as the governance and utility asset of the ecosystem. Holders can participate in protocol decision-making, support system recapitalization during stress events, and benefit from ecosystem growth. Yala’s infrastructure includes its MetaVault system, which provides flexible cross-chain liquidity management, and a chain-agnostic architecture, ensuring interoperability across multiple blockchain networks. This combination allows Yala to deliver both security and capital efficiency while keeping users in full control of their assets.

When Did Yala Protocol Launch?

Founded in 2023, Yala was created by a team of seasoned DeFi and crypto professionals, including Kaitai Chang (formerly of Binance Labs), Bin Liu (co‑founder of Alchemy Pay), and Vicky Fu (former engineering lead at Circle), alongside contributors with backgrounds at MakerDAO, Lido, and Microsoft.

The project secured an $8 million seed round on October 10, 2024, co‑led by Polychain Capital and Ethereal Ventures, with participation from Galaxy Digital, Amber Group, HashKey Capital, and others. Yala officially launched its mainnet around mid‑May 2025, introducing its MetaVault and MetaMint features for BTC-backed liquidity across DeFi and Real‑World Asset (RWA) strategies, along with cross‑chain deployment beginning on Solana.

Yala Protocol Roadmap

• 2023 – Project founded by Kaitai Chang, Bin Liu, and Vicky Fu.

• October 10, 2024 – Raised $8 million in seed funding, co-led by Polychain Capital and Ethereal Ventures.

• May 2025 – Mainnet launch featuring MetaMint, yield strategies, and reward systems.

• Mid-May 2025 – Official Solana launch, enabling BTC collateralization and access to DeFi yields.

• July 22, 2025 – Dual listing on major centralized exchanges, with formal trading, deposit/withdrawal activation, and airdrop incentive programs.

What Is the YALA Token Utility?

The YALA token is the governance and utility asset of the Yala Protocol, playing a central role in maintaining and expanding its Bitcoin-native liquidity ecosystem. Holders can participate in on-chain governance, vote on protocol upgrades, and influence yield strategy allocations. YALA also acts as a recapitalization backstop during market stress events, helping to protect the system’s solvency. In addition, it is used for staking incentives, liquidity provision rewards, and unlocking exclusive protocol features such as advanced MetaVault strategies and boosted $YU minting limits.

You can trade YALA tokens seamlessly on the BingX spot market by creating an account, depositing supported cryptocurrencies or fiat, and selecting the YALA/USDT trading pair. Once on the spot trading interface, you can place market or limit orders to buy or sell YALA with competitive fees and real-time price tracking.

What Is Yala Tokenomics?

Yala Protocol has a fixed total supply of 1 billion YALA tokens.

What Is the Difference Between YU and YALA Tokens?

The YU token is Yala Protocol’s over-collateralized stablecoin, minted by locking Bitcoin or Bitcoin-backed assets into secure multi-signature vaults. It is pegged to the U.S. dollar and designed for stability, enabling users to access DeFi and real-world asset (RWA) yield opportunities without selling their BTC. YU functions as the primary medium of exchange and value transfer within the Yala ecosystem, supporting activities such as lending, borrowing, and cross-chain liquidity operations.

In contrast, the YALA token is the protocol’s governance and utility asset. It gives holders voting power over protocol upgrades, yield allocation strategies, and treasury usage, while also acting as a recapitalization backstop during market stress events. YALA is used for staking incentives, liquidity rewards, and unlocking advanced features within Yala’s MetaVault system. In essence, YU serves as a stable transactional asset, while YALA operates as a governance and value-accrual token that underpins the protocol’s long-term growth and security.

How to Mint YU Tokens on Yala Protocol

To mint YU tokens on the Yala Protocol, you deposit Bitcoin or Bitcoin-backed assets into Yala’s secure multi-signature vaults through the MetaMint feature. These deposits act as over-collateral, ensuring the stability of the YU stablecoin. Once your BTC is locked, the protocol automatically issues YU tokens pegged to the U.S. dollar, which you can then use for DeFi activities, yield farming, or real-world asset (RWA) strategies supported by Yala.

Here's how you can mint YU tokens on Yala:

1. Connecting Your Wallet – Link a supported wallet (e.g., Xverse, UniSat, or other Bitcoin-compatible wallets) to the Yala dApp.

2. Depositing BTC or LSTs – Send your collateral to Yala’s multi-sig vault via the MetaMint interface.

3. Setting Mint Parameters – Choose the amount of YU you want to mint, ensuring you meet the required collateral ratio.

4. Confirming the Transaction – Approve the minting transaction from your wallet to receive your YU tokens instantly.

Yala’s over-collateralization model and automated liquidation mechanisms help maintain YU’s peg and reduce systemic risk, making it a secure option for leveraging your Bitcoin without selling it.

How to Claim Yala Airdrop

Yala Protocol’s Season 1 Airdrop distributes 34 million YALA tokens (3.4% of total supply) to early contributors such as testnet users, NFT minters, and campaign participants. A portion is also available via Binance Alpha, rewarding engaged users for their support.

Eligibility Criteria for YALA Token Airdrop

What Blockchain Network Does Yala Operate on?

Yala operates as a chain-agnostic Bitcoin liquidity protocol, with its core infrastructure built to interact across multiple blockchain networks. While Bitcoin serves as the primary collateral source for minting its $YU stablecoin, Yala has deployed its MetaVault and MetaMint systems on ecosystems like Solana to tap into high-speed, low-cost DeFi opportunities. This cross-chain architecture allows Yala to bridge BTC liquidity into various DeFi and real-world asset (RWA) markets, ensuring users can access yield strategies beyond the Bitcoin network while retaining self-custody through secure multi-signature vaults.

Which Wallets Support YALA Tokens?

The easiest and most secure way to store YALA tokens is directly on the BingX exchange wallet. By keeping your YALA in your BingX account, you can seamlessly trade, swap, or convert it to other cryptocurrencies without needing external transfers. BingX also offers advanced account security features such as two-factor authentication (2FA), withdrawal whitelists, and anti-phishing codes, making it a convenient option for both active traders and long-term holders. This setup is ideal if you plan to participate in spot trading or take advantage of BingX promotions, airdrops, or staking opportunities involving YALA.

For users who prefer self-custody, YALA tokens can be stored in any Ethereum-compatible wallet (if issued as ERC-20) or in wallets that support the specific network Yala is deployed on, such as Solana-based wallets when interacting with its Solana integration. Popular non-custodial options include MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Phantom, and hardware wallets like Ledger or Trezor for added offline security. These wallets allow you to retain full control over your private keys and interact directly with Yala’s dApp to mint $YU, stake assets, or participate in governance. However, self-custody also means you’re responsible for safeguarding your keys and recovery phrases.

Is Yala (YALA) a Good Investment?

Yala (YALA) stands out as a potentially strong investment due to its Bitcoin-native liquidity model and dual-token system. By enabling users to mint the over-collateralized $YU stablecoin using BTC, Yala taps into Bitcoin’s vast market cap and brings it into yield-generating DeFi and real-world asset (RWA) strategies. The protocol’s chain-agnostic architecture and integration with high-performance networks like Solana allow it to bridge BTC liquidity seamlessly across ecosystems, enhancing capital efficiency. With features like MetaVault for flexible asset management and multi-signature vault security, Yala offers a secure and scalable foundation for decentralized finance applications.

From a tokenholder’s perspective, YALA is more than just a governance asset; it serves as a recapitalization backstop, staking incentive, and a key driver of protocol growth. Large allocations to ecosystem development, coupled with strong backing from leading investors such as Polychain Capital and Galaxy Digital, signal a well-funded roadmap for adoption and expansion. If Yala can maintain $YU’s stability, attract sustained BTC inflows, and scale its yield strategies, the YALA token could benefit from growing protocol revenues, increased governance participation, and deeper integration into multi-chain DeFi markets. However, as with all crypto investments, market volatility and adoption risks remain important considerations.
