Iran Shuts Strait of Hormuz "Until Further Notice"
Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz "until further notice," according to a report from Iran's semiofficial Tasnim news agency. The report said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ordered the shutdown after the U.S. seized the tanker M/T Tifani.
The move follows a string of maritime interceptions by U.S. forces in the Indo-Pacific region earlier in the day. Iranian authorities are calling for a complete removal of maritime restrictions before reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a key chokepoint for global oil flows.
