MoonPay brings crypto buying to ChatGPT, adding in-chat access to XRP and more

MoonPay has released an app on the ChatGPT app store that lets users start buying cryptocurrencies from inside the chat window, CoinDesk reported. The flow is designed to keep the purchase journey within the conversation. After a user types a buy request in ChatGPT, MoonPay returns a payment link within seconds and then routes the user to a checkout page to complete the transaction. MoonPay says the integration supports more than 100 crypto assets across 30 blockchain networks. Available tokens include XRP, Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL) and USD Coin (USDC). Payments can be made with standard debit or credit cards. The company framed the launch as more than a new on-ramp. By placing the trading entry point directly inside an AI chat interface, users can ask questions about an asset and proceed to purchase without switching between multiple apps. MoonPay argues this approach lowers the learning curve for first-time buyers who previously needed to navigate wallets, networks, gas fees and exchange workflows before making an initial purchase. The new setup consolidates parts of that process into a single chat session plus payment. The rollout also highlights a broader product trend: chatbots moving from information tools to transaction gateways as AI converges with payments and blockchain services. For XRP, in-chat buying could lift visibility in mainstream contexts, potentially reaching users who might not otherwise use traditional exchanges as interest in blockchain payments and cross-border settlement use cases grows.
