CBB Built $18M Short in WTI Crude Futures on Hyperliquid, Locked In $390K Unrealized Gain
Crypto trader CBB (address 0xefd) opened a major short position in CL, the WTI crude oil mapping contract on Hyperliquid, around 15 days ago, with exposure briefly reaching $18 million at an average entry of $77.20 and an unrealized profit of $390,000 (6%), Coinbob Popular Address Monitoring data show. During the past half hour, the address closed about $6 million of the position and was still taking profits at the time of publication, after WTI crude oil futures briefly touched $75 with a 2.8% one-hour drop ahead of the U.S. market open. On the macro side, the latest EIA data for the week ending February 27 showed crude inventories at Cushing, Oklahoma, the pricing and delivery hub for WTI, rose to a recent high, while U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent stated that crude oil market supplies are sufficient. CBB (X: Cbb0fe), who has around 100,000 followers on X and is known for publicly coordinating an attack on BTC short positions worth hundreds of millions in 2025, is currently engaged in high-frequency commodity trading on Hyperliquid, mainly focusing on short strategies.
