Coinbase Prime to Launch 24/7 Regulated Futures Trading and Unified Cross-Margin on March 7

Coinbase Prime will integrate with CFTC-regulated futures broker Coinbase Financial Markets on March 7 to offer round-the-clock trading for more than 20 futures contracts, including perpetual futures via Coinbase Derivatives, ChainThink reports. The platform will introduce unified cross-margining for spot and derivatives, allowing institutions to evaluate risk exposure within a single portfolio and use their entire account balance as collateral. Coinbase, a NYDFS-regulated qualified custodian overseeing 12% of total cryptocurrency market cap, said the cross-margin setup aims to boost capital efficiency for hedging and help trading desks coordinate exposure, collateral, and margin requirements as part of its push to build an institutional prime brokerage offering custody, risk management, financing, lending, and trade execution.
