State-owned Canara Bank reported its results for the first quarter of FY27, posting a 2% year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 4,856 crore. Net interest income increased 13% to Rs 10,216 crore. Gross non-performing assets fell 24% year-on-year to Rs 1,399 crore.
The bank said it plans to raise $1.3 billion through FCNR(B) deposits, and a further $500 million each via external commercial borrowings and overseas foreign-currency borrowings. Proceeds will be used to replace high-cost bulk deposits.
