ChainThink reported on July 28 that Hyperliquid has issued an official response regarding an abrupt price spike in the SK Hynix perpetual market. According to Hyperliquid, the xyz:SKHYNIX perpetual was deployed and is operated by the Trade.xyz team, which is investigating the incident and will release an update after reaching conclusions.
Hyperliquid said that under HIP3, multiple teams can deploy and run markets on Hyperliquid, while Hyperliquid itself provides the underlying infrastructure as a permissionless blockchain.
In an additional statement, Hyperliquid noted that HIP3 deployers submit their market's mark price, oracle price, and external perpetual price inputs. Deployers may use an approach similar to how validators set perpetual mark prices: the protocol supplies the median of the latest on-chain trade price, the best bid, and the best ask, while the other two components are provided by the deployer and affect the final mark price.
As of publication, Hyperliquid has not issued further comment.
