Ionic Digital's Nasdaq direct listing (IOND) opened below its reference price before recovering, highlighting residual overhang from former Celsius creditors now able to sell. The business mix shift toward Texas data center capacity leased for AI workloads and reduced reliance on bitcoin mining underscores the market's preference for AI-linked infrastructure over pure-play hashrate exposure. Spillover to broader crypto is likely limited, but it reinforces the AI-data-center narrative within mining-adjacent equities.

Ionic Digital (IOND) opened at $50 in a Nasdaq direct listing on Tuesday, below the $53 reference price set Monday. The stock gained through the morning session to trade near $56, about 12% above the open and back above the reference level.
The company was formed in January 2024 from Celsius Mining's assets following the lender's bankruptcy. Former Celsius creditors are among the shareholders and are now free to sell.
Ionic's business mix has shifted away from hashrate. Most of its value is tied to Texas data center capacity leased for AI workloads, with bitcoin mining now a secondary activity.
