Russia's largest lender, Sberbank, plans to roll out a cryptocurrency trading infrastructure by Dec. 1, 2026, Cointelegraph reported. The buildout is set to include an off-chain digital depository designed to record client crypto holdings and process most transactions. In parallel, Russia's legislature has completed the final review of the country's first comprehensive cryptocurrency regulation bill. The law is slated to take effect on Sept. 1, 2026, creating rules for five types of market participants: exchanges, brokers, asset managers, custodians and exchange service providers. Oversight will be led by the Central Bank of Russia.
