Meta in talks to lease AI data-center compute to Anthropic in deal worth up to $10 billion over two years

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Meta is reportedly in early talks to lease excess AI data-center compute to Anthropic in a potential $10B, two-year arrangement, reframing prior "AI overbuild" capex risk as near-term monetizable capacity. If executed, the deal would add an incremental revenue stream, improve utilization of heavy 2025 infrastructure spend, and may temper investor concerns around aggressive AI capex while highlighting acute compute scarcity among frontier AI developers.

Meta is in discussions to lease computing power from its AI data centres to Anthropic under a potential agreement worth up to $10 billion over two years. The talks would allow Meta to generate revenue from capacity built for its own AI plans as it prepares to spend as much as $145 billion this year, more than double the $72 billion spent last year. Mark Zuckerberg has said the company may have “overbuilt” and that selling compute is an option if it finds itself with excess capacity. The discussions provide an early sign that Meta’s AI capital spending could produce near-term monetisation, according to The New York Times.
