Morgan Stanley Files for Spot Bitcoin ETF; Bitwise Donates $233,000 to BTC Developers

Morgan Stanley has filed with the SEC to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF, naming Coinbase and Bank of New York Mellon as custodians, with Coinbase Custody responsible for safeguarding the underlying BTC, blockchain researcher Anıl said on X. Anıl noted that unlike the first wave of BTC ETFs where flows largely rotated out of Grayscale products, inflows into Morgan Stanley's ETF would represent fresh demand and additional market liquidity, while Coinbase as custodian could also influence Coinbase Premium. Separately, Bitwise Asset Management has donated $233,000 to support open-source developers maintaining the Bitcoin network, part of its pledge to allocate 10% of the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF's (BITB) gross profit annually to BTC open-source development, the firm said on X. The donation will be distributed via BitcoinBlick, OpenSats and the Human Rights Foundation Bitcoin Development Funds.
