Bitcoin Rises Above $68,000 as Crypto Market Cap Adds $170 Billion to Near $2.5 Trillion

Bitcoin climbed over 5% to around $68,443 on Wednesday after falling below $65,000, as the global cryptocurrency market added more than $170 billion in value to reach nearly $2.5 trillion, CoinGecko data show. Ethereum, XRP, BNB, Solana, Cardano, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu also posted gains. The rally followed news that Jane Street was named in a lawsuit by Terraform Labs' liquidation administrator alleging the firm used confidential information from Terraform insiders for trades linked to the 2022 TerraLuna collapse, The Wall Street Journal reported. Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted the market acted as if selling pressure had eased, though the longer-term trend for digital assets remains uncertain.
