Coinbase Taps Chainlink DataLink to Put Exchange Market Data Onchain

Coinbase has integrated Chainlink's DataLink service to publish its exchange market data directly onchain for the first time, the companies said. The rollout is designed to give DeFi applications access to institutional-grade inputs for pricing and risk management. Under the integration, Coinbase will distribute premium datasets including spot prices, order book information, perpetual futures and broader derivatives data. The feed also covers Coinbase International Exchange and Coinbase Derivatives Exchange, spanning crypto markets as well as metals, energy and equity futures. Chainlink provides the data delivery layer, standardizing feeds so developers can consume verified market inputs without building bespoke infrastructure. Coinbase said the data is used across markets representing billions of dollars in trading volume. The new onchain data channel is expected to support lending protocols, derivatives venues and synthetic asset platforms, along with structured products and tokenized real-world asset applications. Coinbase Markets VP Liz Martin said the deployment builds on prior work with Chainlink and marks the first time Coinbase market data is being delivered onchain via DataLink. Chainlink Labs CBO Johann Eid said the goal is to bring exchange-level data securely into programmable blockchain environments. The DataLink rollout follows earlier Coinbase-Chainlink technical collaborations, including a Base-Solana bridge secured by Chainlink CCIP and Coinbase's selection of CCIP as its exclusive interoperability provider for wrapped assets.
