Prysm Reports Dec. 4 Resource Exhaustion on Ethereum Mainnet, 248 Blocks Missing

Nearly all Prysm beacon nodes experienced resource exhaustion on Ethereum mainnet on Dec. 4, resulting in 248 missing blocks and 382 ETH in lost rewards, the Prysm team said in a Dec. 14 review. The team attributed the issue to attestations referencing prior epoch block roots from possibly unsynced nodes. Version 7.0.0 enabled --disable-last-epoch-target, while versions 7.0.1 and 7.1.0 now use head state to validate attestations.
