rsETH exploit leaves 68,900 ETH hole; "DeFi United" recovery fund reaches 13,500 ETH

Onchain analyst Ember (@EmberCN) estimates the rsETH incident on April 18 resulted in an approximate shortfall of 68,900 ETH (about $160 million). The attacker posted rsETH as collateral to borrow 99,600 ETH. After Arbitrum recovered 30,700 ETH, the remaining funds were fully swapped into BTC. The response has moved into a recovery phase. Aave is coordinating the creation of a rescue vehicle dubbed "DeFi United," which has raised a total of 13,500 ETH (around $31.45 million) in donations. Contributors include Lido Finance (2,500 stETH), the ether.fi Foundation (5,000 ETH), Aave founder Stani Kulechov (5,000 ETH), the Golem Foundation (1,000 ETH), along with LayerZero, Ink Foundation and others (amounts not disclosed).
