Russia and U.S. Discuss Using Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Power for Bitcoin Mining
According to Kommersant, President Vladimir Putin said Russia and the United States are in talks over the management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, including a proposal to use its electricity for Bitcoin mining. The plant, described as Europe's largest nuclear facility with daily output exceeding local needs, could provide steady, low-cost power to miners and help absorb surplus energy. With roughly 19.7 million BTC already issued and about 1.3 million left to mine after the 2024 halving, discussions highlight how Bitcoin mining is increasingly intertwined with major energy infrastructure.
