Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan Sees Bitcoin in Decade-Long Steady Uptrend but Doubts Extreme Gains Will Return
Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan said on a CNBC program on Dec. 28 that Bitcoin could deliver relatively solid returns over the next ten years, but he does not expect the kind of extreme upside seen before, Cointelegraph reports. He described the market as entering a decade-long phase of steady gains with strong but less volatile performance and normal fluctuations along the way. Hougan reiterated his earlier view that 2026 will be a bullish year for Bitcoin, a forecast he first made in July when the asset climbed to an all-time high of $125,100 in October. He added that a "fast-moving retail cohort" contributed to Bitcoin's year-end decline as some retail investors rotated and took profits based on their expectations of the four-year cycle.
