Czech National Bank Launches $1 Million Digital Asset Pilot Portfolio
The Czech National Bank established a $1 million experimental digital asset portfolio comprising Bitcoin, USD-denominated stablecoins, and tokenized deposits, funded separately from its existing international reserves, the bank announced on Nov. 13. The 2-to-3-year pilot program will test central bank processes for purchasing, holding, and managing blockchain-based assets. CNB Governor Aleš Michl said the initiative aims to explore Bitcoin's potential role in reserve diversification, with the investment excluded from official foreign exchange reserves.
