BNB Smart Chain’s Fermi Hard Fork to Cut Block Time to 250ms on January 14
The BNB Smart Chain plans to activate its Fermi hard fork on the mainnet on January 14, following around two months of testing on the testnet. The upgrade will cut block times from 750 milliseconds to 250 milliseconds, introduce new indexing tools to reduce data and hardware needs, and is aimed at supporting high-frequency, time-sensitive onchain applications. These changes are intended to boost network throughput and make BNB Chain more competitive with other high-speed blockchains and traditional payment systems.
