Coinbase Launches Regulated Crypto and Index Futures With Up to 10x Leverage in 26 European Countries
Coinbase began offering regulated futures trading in Europe on March 9, giving traders in 26 countries including Germany, France, and the Netherlands access to crypto derivatives via its MiFID entity on the Coinbase Advanced platform, ChainThink reports. The lineup includes cryptocurrency futures, stock index futures, and perpetual-style futures—five-year contracts that track the underlying asset using an hourly funding rate and settle daily—while fixed-term contracts carry monthly or quarterly expiries and are marked-to-market daily at the official settlement price. Leverage reaches up to 10x for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and selected index products, while other products offer around 4x to 5x leverage, with a minimum trading fee of 0.02% per contract. Users must complete eligibility checks and KYC and can fund accounts in EUR or USD Coin before trading.
