Ethena Foundation rolls out four major ecosystem changes

AI Market Summary
Ethena Foundation's ecosystem changes tighten tokenholder alignment: repurchasing locked tokens from early investors, ending future monthly VC unlocks, and pursuing income-backed ENA buybacks via governance. The Master Framework Agreement shifts IP ownership and residual cash flows to the Foundation under ENA-holder governance, reducing equity-holder claims. Near term, this may lower perceived overhang and improve clarity on value accrual to ENA.

PANews, Aug. 27 — The Ethena Foundation said it is implementing four changes across the Ethena ecosystem. The measures include buying back locked tokens held by early investors, tightening the linkage between token and equity value, preparing a governance proposal for income-backed ENA buybacks, and ending future monthly VC token unlocks. The Foundation stated it has repurchased all locked tokens from key seed investors who sold ENA over the past nine months. On aligning token and equity value, the Foundation and Ethena Labs have signed a Master Framework Agreement under which all intellectual property and value created through the arrangement will be owned exclusively by the Foundation and governed by ENA holders. Under the new structure, equity investors in Ethena Labs will no longer be entitled to residual cash flows.
