S&P 500, Nasdaq Close Lower; Futures Slide Further as Focus Turns to Tech Earnings and Rising Geopolitical Risk — TSLA, GOOGL, PSKY, RDDT, AMZN in Focus

Geopolitical tensions escalated sharply after the U.S. carried out an 11th round of military strikes on Iran. The Secretary of State said Iran was \u0022not serious about negotiations.\u0022 Oil prices jumped on the renewed risk backdrop. Brent climbed to a more than one-month high and briefly topped $95 a barrel, while WTI rose 3% to $86.83. U.S. equities ended the session lower. The S&P 500 fell 0.2%, the Nasdaq 100 dropped 0.5%, and the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) slid 0.8%. Stock-index futures extended declines after the close as investors shifted attention to upcoming technology earnings. Several major tech names were under pressure on earnings disappointments and concerns about elevated capital spending. Tesla (TSLA), Alphabet (GOOGL), Reddit (RDDT), Amazon (AMZN) and others fell in after-hours trading. PSKY was also in focus.
