MARA Moves 1,000 BTC to Exchanges, XRP ETF Inflow Streak Ends
Of today’s stories, only four move coins or flows that can shift a chart before Wall Street opens. The clearest signal sits in an exchange wallet. A miner’s exchange deposit is a supply signal before it is a sale MARA Holdings moved 1,000 BTC, worth roughly $82.8 million, onto cryptocurrency exchanges, a transfer reported by four independent publishers including BeInCrypto, Coinspeaker and Cryptonews.com. The mechanism is not speculative: coins sitting on an exchange can be sold in minutes, which is why the move reads as a liquidity event whether or not MARA executes a sale. Four outlets independently carrying the same transfer places the deposit itself among the better-supported facts of the day, even though the motive remains unconfirmed. Traders positioning before the open should treat this as float that has changed location, not float that has changed hands. An ETF streak breaking removes a demand prop just as usage softens XRP-linked exchange-traded funds broke a 13-week streak of consistent inflows, a shift carried by BeInCrypto and CryptoSlate alongside reports of weakening on-chain payment usage for the token. The mechanism is straightforward: a fund that has been a reliable net buyer for thirteen weeks stops being one, and losing a standing bid matters more than any single day’s price print. Set against the on-chain data in the same report, the two facts describe a demand side thinning from two directions at once rather than one isolated wobble. Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs are already in outflow on the same account, which makes the XRP break part of a wider retreat in ETF-wrapped demand rather than an isolated asset story. Mt. Gox’s delay pushes a known overhang further out Mt. Gox’s rehabilitation trustee has pushed creditor repayments back a year, to October 2027, in a move carried by CryptoSlate and crypto.news. This is a mechanism in the literal sense: a scheduled distribution of bitcoin to creditors is a known future sell-pressure event, and delaying it removes that pressure from the near-term supply calendar rather than adding to it. The extension is the latest in a long series of postponements stretching back more than a decade, which should temper how much weight any single repayment date carries going forward. For anyone modelling available float before the open, it subtracts a line item. Bitcoin’s reclaim of $82,000 is borrowed from oil, not built on crypto demand Bitcoin reclaimed $82,000 as oil prices eased and buyers returned, according to Cryptonews.com and crypto.news, with traders weighing whether the recovery holds against lingering fears of a broader selloff. The price driver sits in energy markets, not in crypto-specific demand, which means the level is being held up by a macro input that can reverse independently of anything happening on-chain. Read against the MARA deposit and the XRP ETF break in the same window, the picture is a bitcoin price recovering on borrowed macro relief at the exact moment two separate demand signals — a miner’s exchanged coins and a fund’s broken streak — soften underneath it. That combination makes the $82,000 reclaim a weaker floor than the headline number suggests. The one to hold: the MARA deposit Of everything carrying a mechanism before the open, the MARA transfer is the one worth holding onto, because it is the only story where the asset itself — not a flow figure or a calendar date — has already changed location. The ETF streak and the Mt. Gox delay describe demand and supply calendars; the MARA deposit describes bitcoin sitting on an exchange order book right now. Nothing here establishes that a sale will follow. It does establish that the float available to sell has grown, and that is the fact to carry forward, not a prediction of what MARA does with it. None of today’s four items proves direction on its own. Together they show available float rising on one side of the book, standing demand retreating on the other, and a price level propped up by a macro input unrelated to either. Stories in this edition Publisher counts are as at publication and keep moving; each story page carries the live number. - MARA Holdings Moves 1,000 BTC to Exchanges, Fueling Sale Speculation — 4 independent publishers, the only story where coins have already moved onto exchange order books before the open - XRP ETFs’ 13-Week Inflow Streak Ends as On-Chain Payment Data Raises Concerns — 2 independent publishers, a demand-side flow mechanism that withdraws a standing ETF bid just as usage data softens - Mt. Gox Pushes Creditor Repayment Deadline Back a Year to October 2027 — 2 independent publishers, a scheduled future supply event pushed further out, changing the near-term float calendar - Bitcoin Climbs Back Above $82K as Oil Prices Ease and Buyers Return — 2 independent publishers, a macro-driven price recovery that sits on top of, not independent of, the other flow mechanisms Originally reported by AltcoinGordon, written by Noah Sullivan. Bitcoin Rebounds Above $82,000 as Black Monday Fears Fade; ETF Outflows Hit $229M
CoinDesk reports Bitcoin held firm as crypto investors weighed warnings of a potential Black Monday, rising social media anxiety, recent ETF redemptions and signs of a broader market recovery. After warnings of another Black Monday drew wide attention online, Bitcoin rebounded above $82,000. Santiment said mentions of Black Monday reached 176 on October 18, far above the previous daily average. Last week, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of about $229 million, led by redemptions from BlackRock funds. Analysts see $81,000 as key support; a stronger rebound signal would require Bitcoin to reclaim a higher resistance level. A Bitcoin wallet inactive since 2013 moved about 411 BTC to another address, worth roughly $34 million. As of press time, CoinGecko data showed Bitcoin trading near $82,795, up 1.13% in 24 hours but down 1.37% over seven days. Daily trading volume was about $25.4 billion, with market capitalization near $1.66 trillion. The rebound followed a difficult week in financial markets. Bitcoin briefly fell below $80,000. Tech stocks came under pressure, oil prices stayed elevated and investors continued to assess the likelihood of monetary policy tightening. Despite predictions of another sharp decline on October 19, Bitcoin closed near $82,000 on October 18. The warnings coincided with the 39th anniversary of the October 19, 1987, stock market crash. Santiment said discussion on crypto social media about a potential Black Monday increased significantly. On October 18, the phrase was mentioned 176 times, compared with fewer than two mentions per day on average over the previous 60 days. Data showed expectations of heavy selling spread quickly ahead of the Monday trading session. The most active six-hour window ran from 18:00 to 24:00 UTC, with 82 mentions. That period aligned with the reopening of U.S. stock index futures as traders began reacting to weekend developments. Mentions of market crashes reached 105, a level Santiment called unusually high for a Sunday, though still within the range seen over the past 90 days. Santiment compared the latest reading to a slight rise in negative sentiment on September 14. Bitcoin fell about 3% the next day, but the firm noted similar sentiment signals have previously led to different outcomes. These metrics measure discussion about potential crashes, not the actual probability of a crash. Social media activity can rise because of warnings, bearish predictions and traders discussing possible market moves. The price rebound offered a clear example: despite an unusually high number of negative forecasts, Bitcoin rose on Monday. Bitcoin ETFs posted a net outflow of $229 million, pointing to weakening institutional demand. Institutional activity was mixed in the week ending October 16, when U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of about $228.6 million. Based on fund flow data from October 12 to 16, BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) saw about $165 million in outflows, while Fidelity FBTC recorded about $60 million in redemptions over the same period. Selling was concentrated across several sessions. Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of about $261 million on Wednesday, October 14. A net inflow of $176 million on Tuesday was not enough to offset redemptions on other days. According to a Crypto.news weekly roundup, Ethereum ETFs recorded a net outflow of about $320.1 million, nearly $92 million more than the outflow from Bitcoin funds. Across the five tracked categories of crypto ETFs, total net outflows reached $610.7 million. These figures reflect net changes from subscriptions and redemptions, not actual trading losses for all ETF shareholders. Even without redemptions, fund assets can decline when market prices fall. The latest Bitcoin ETF outflows followed a net outflow of about $679 million the previous week. Flows in the October 12-16 week were smaller, but two straight weeks of negative flows show institutional demand remains unstable. Market conditions improved slightly on Monday, helped by stronger-than-expected Chinese economic growth and a decline in oil prices. China grew 4.5% year over year in the third quarter, while oil prices fell after U.S. restrictions on Russian energy-related activities. Analysts are watching $81,000 as Bitcoin tries to recover its trend. Despite intraday rebounds, several analysts are monitoring key technical levels that could determine whether Bitcoin can sustain upward momentum. Crypto analyst Ted noted Bitcoin logged another weekly close above $82,000 despite weak tech stocks, oil prices above $100 and elevated market volatility. He sees $84,500 as the level Bitcoin needs to reclaim to show stronger upward momentum. If it fails to regain that level, he warns Bitcoin could still fall back below $80,000. Analyst Ali Martinez views $81,000 as the lower boundary of the uptrend channel on the Bitcoin daily chart. If that level continues to attract buying support, the price could rebound to $84,000 and then $86,500. Martinez said a continued break below $81,000 would weaken the chart pattern. He identified $76,000 as a lower level to watch. His analysis describes a conditional scenario based on technical indicators, not a confirmed future price move. Another analysis by Crypto Patel presents a longer-term bullish chart structure, with $89,000 as resistance and $75,600 as support. The analyst also identifies about $66,700 as another potential retest level and says the bullish structure would be invalidated if price falls below about $59,800. Patel sees bullish targets including $90,000 to $100,000, with an extended target of $125,000 if the bullish structure continues to form. These projections depend on future price action and do not imply Bitcoin has completed its correction. CoinGecko seven-day range of $79,806 to $84,074 shows Bitcoin has recently traded within the area highlighted by several analysts. As of the report, the asset remains about 34.4% below its all-time high of $126,080. Short-term traders are focused on the $80,000 area, while analyst Michaël van de Poppe discussed the potential for larger upward moves within the current market cycle. In an October 17 post, van de Poppe shared a long-term Bitcoin chart, comparing it with previous market cycles and the late 1990s tech boom. His analysis suggests Bitcoin may first see a strong speculative rally, followed by another significant correction. Discussions mentioned a potential price of $1 million during this cycle, though no timeline was provided and no outcome is guaranteed. The chart cited by van de Poppe shows that, based on a trendline connecting the previous five Bitcoin cycle lows, a conservative long-term forecast for 2030 is close to $197,000. Historical trendlines can help observers study price behavior, but past cycles cannot reliably determine future valuations. Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan has said Bitcoin could potentially reach $1 million if it attracts more demand from investors seeking a store of value. His framework compares Bitcoin with established assets used for long-term wealth preservation. A rise from the reported $82,795 to $1 million would represent an approximate 1,108% increase in Bitcoin. At the maximum supply of 21 million coins, a $1 million price per Bitcoin would correspond to a fully diluted valuation of $2.1 trillion. This calculation is only meant to illustrate potential scale and does not imply such demand will materialize. The current Bitcoin market capitalization remains far below this theoretical level. Another dynamic over the weekend: a long-inactive Bitcoin wallet moved about 411.45 BTC to a new address. According to Arkham Intelligence wallet records, the original address had held most of those coins since September 2013. At the time, Bitcoin was priced at about $131, and when the wallet received around 411 BTC, the historical value of that balance was roughly $54,000. The transfer occurred on October 18 at about 18:23 UTC, with funds sent to a relatively new SegWit address. At a Bitcoin price of about $82,795, the 411.45 BTC was worth about $34.1 million. The original address can be viewed in Arkham wallet records, while the receiving address is listed on a Bitcoin blockchain explorer. In the provided on-chain analysis, the receiving address was not identified as an exchange, and no subsequent outgoing transactions were reported at that checkpoint. Transfers between wallets do not prove the holder sold Bitcoin. The transfer followed large movements by other long-dormant holders. Earlier in October, another Bitcoin whale moved 4,582 BTC, worth about $377.6 million, after being inactive for more than six years. In August, another dormant wallet transfer involved more than 1,300 BTC moved from an old address, and on-chain analysis failed to identify a clear exchange destination for the primary transaction group. On October 18, the receiving wallet used the newer SegWit address format, which typically carries lower transaction fees than the legacy format. According to the provided on-chain analysis, the original wallet history also included a small number of unsolicited deposits, some tied to address poisoning attempts. Only 4.4% of Moved 6-12 Month Bitcoin Reached Exchanges, Down From 40.4% in June
Only 4.4% of moved Bitcoin aged 6 to 12 months reached exchanges, down from 40.4% in June, according to CryptoQuant. The lower exchange inflow suggests older coins are not being moved for immediate selling, easing some sell pressure. The metric tracks coins that changed hands and how many of those ended up on trading platforms.

Strategy's Bitcoin holdings reach 848,250 BTC, topping 4% of total supply
CoinDesk reports that Strategy now holds 848,250 bitcoin at an average purchase price of $75,444, more than 4% of Bitcoin's fixed supply of 21 million and enough to cement its standing among the largest corporate holders of the asset. With bitcoin trading near $82,000, the position is worth about $69.6 billion, carrying roughly $5.6 billion in unrealized gains. Strategy kept buying through 2026, including during this month's pullback that briefly pushed bitcoin below $80,000. The company's holdings continue to grow despite the risk of removal from the MSCI Global Index, a warning that last week knocked 4% off its share price.
