OpenAI in talks to lease 10-GW Ohio data center campus with Nvidia backing
OpenAI is discussing a lease for a 10-gigawatt data center campus on federal land in Pike County, Ohio, with financing support from Nvidia. The site is the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, which the U.S. Department of Energy said in March 2026 is being redeveloped with SoftBank's SB Energy building 10 GW of new generation, including at least 9.2 GW from natural gas. If completed, the single campus would surpass the roughly 7 GW of planned capacity across OpenAI's seven Stargate locations.
